Endless-Online is getting around three hundred new users a day and we need your help! We are implementing a new program
called Light Guides. Light Guides will be just like Admins, except that Light Guides are specifically trained to help newcomers.
Light Guides` job is to show new people the basics of Endless Online and to answer any questions. Light Guides will also watch
out for scams and help make Endless Online better! Light Guides will get the Elder Robes and all the special powers that other
Admins get.
You have been chosen to be a Light Guide, if you do not want the responsibility please reply saying. If
you reply to this email with the correct details you will get your special features. You will receive Light Guide training
from your Light Guide Guardians, along with support and guidance from Endless Online staff. You will be able to communicate
with the others Light Guides with a special email group, in a discussion forum, and on the game of course!
Note: YOU
ARE REQUIRED TO REPLY TO THE E-MAIL ADDRESS LISTED AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS E-MAIL. YOU MUST STATE IF YOU DON`T WANT TO BE A
LIGHT GUIDE. IF YOU DO, THEN YOU MUST COMPLETE THE APPLICATION PROVIDED AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS E-MAIL.
1. INTRODUCTION Congratulations
on being chosen to be a Light Guide!
Being a Light Guide is fun, but it comes with responsibilities too. This handbook
explains what your Light Guide roles and responsibilities are. All Light Guides are supported by a special Endless Online
staff member between the hours of 9am and 12am EST.
2. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES As a Light Guide, you should
try your best to be friendly and helpful to all Endless Online users in the game. You`re there to EDUCATE Endless Online users
about game safety and how the game works, as well as to protect innocent Endless Online users and fight `the bad guys` –
Endless Online users who do not stick to the game`s Terms and Conditions. The latest up to date Terms and Conditions can be
found here: http://endless-online.com/disclaimer.html
* Disciplinary action: If you see an Endless Online user acting
against the rules you should issue a warning and explain that his/her behavior is unacceptable. Refer them to the rules and
if he/she does not take heed of your warning, you should use your other commands as set out in this Handbook.
* Endless
Online user support: You should support ordinary Endless Online users as much as you can, greet new Endless Online users,
show them around the game, answer their questions, and try to mediate in any conflicts or arguments.
* Endless Online
user Reports: When you`re signed into the game on your Light Guide name, you are expected to answer the Reports and spend
time moderating.
* Feedback: If you come across any offensive Endless Online user names, profiles, or words that Endless
Online users are using on the game, please let Vult-R know or you can block these words yourself.
* Security: You must
not reveal any Endless Online passwords to anyone - not even fellow Light Guides or Endless Online staff.
3. Light
Guide GUIDELINES
3.1 Reports
If Endless Online users feel threatened, they can send a `Report`. When an Endless
Online user sends a `Report`, a Light Guide alert will appear on your screen in the top left corner.
Once you have
successfully completed training and two weeks in the Recall Area, you may use the Light Guide Alert system to respond to reports.
To read a `report`, click on Light Guide Alert - you will see which Endless Online users needs help, their reasons why, where
they are within the game, and a `chat log` recorded just before the Endless Online users sent the `Report`. If you think that
you can help the distressed Endless Online user, you should click `pick up`.
3.2.1 Light Guide Discussion Board/Chat
The
`Light Guide Forum,` as it`s commonly known, allows Light Guides to interact with each other and discuss various topics such
as policies or technical problems. There are also sections where you may share ideas and engage in general chit-chat. Endless
Online Staff members post messages weekly in the `Official Announcements` section of the forum to give important news, instructions,
and goings-on within Endless Online and behind the scenes.
3.2.2 Remote Alerting This tool allows you to send an
alert to any Endless Online user. You can use this to answer reports that aren`t urgent (e.g. `How do I get dark robes?` or
`How do I become a Light Guide?`).
3.2.3 List of Current Jailed Users To see if a Endless Online user is jailed
click on the first letter or character of their name, or click `ALL` to see the complete list of jailed Endless Online users.
Please try not to use this tool (especially when the game is very busy) as it puts a strain on the game.
3.2.4 Light
Guide Activity Log This tool lets you search the Endless Online logs in three different ways. You can search for all Light
Guide activity on a specific date, the activity of a specific Light Guide, or for all Light Guide actions carried out against
a specific Endless Online user.
3.2.5 Mass Jailing This tool allows you to jail many Endless Online users for
the same offence (i.e. trying to scam) at the same time. This saves time. You must include a message to explain to the Endless
Online users why they are being removed from the game when they try to login.
3.4.8 Mass Alerts This tool allows
you to give alert to multiple Endless Online users at once. (See 3.2.5)
3.3 USING YOUR COMMANDS IN SPECIFIC SITUATIONS We
trust your judgment on when and when not to use your commands, but there are some specific situations in which we have set
procedures that you should follow. These are set out below. As and when new procedures are laid out, you will be informed
via the Light Guide Forum by an important e-mail with the details, along with an email containing the updated version of this
Handbook. All e-mails sent to you will have `Important Light Guide Information` in the subject.
3.3.1 `Hacking` Endless
Online users accounts Endless Online users often utter `I`ve been hacked`, but it is safe to say that their accounts have
not been hacked in the true sense of the word (Endless Online goes to great lengths to ensure this can`t happen). More
often than not, the Endless Online user in question has given another Endless Online user access to their account, either
unwittingly or because they have been duped into doing so by a dishonest Endless Online user. The most common ways in which
this occurs include: * The Endless Online user told another Endless Online user their password * The Endless Online
user`s password is so obvious; another Endless Online user has guessed it * Another Endless Online user has told them to
change their password/email to something they specified * The Endless Online user has entered their Endless Online user
name and password on a `scam` site (see `Scam site` below)
Why do Endless Online users do this? Nine times out of ten,
they have been told that if they change their password or tell it to someone etc, they will then get free items or gold. Endless
Online spends a lot of time and energy educating Endless Online users about this, but kids build up trust quickly and are
easily misled. And what sort of Endless Online user wouldn`t want items or gold for free?
What to do- You should
only take action against `hackers` if you have proof – you`ve seen the Endless Online user advertising a scam site or
asking for passwords etc. If you are confident that the Endless Online user is indeed trying to get into other Endless Online
users` accounts, follow the procedures laid out below.
Advertising scam site * Jail Endless Online user for 24 hours *
Reason, "You have been jailed for advertising/running a scam site" * Report Endless Online user on the Light Guide Forum
so that Vult-R can jail them permanently
Asking for another Endless Online user`s password * Jail Endless Online
user for 24 hours * Reason, "You have been jailed for trying to get into other Endless Online user(s)` accounts" * Report
Endless Online user on the Light Guide Forum so that they can jail them permanently
Telling an Endless Online user(s)
to change their password to something specific * Jail Endless Online user for 24 hours * Reason, "You have been jailed
for trying to get into another Endless Online user accounts" * Report Endless Online user on the Light Guide Forum so that
they can jail them permanently
Telling an Endless Online user(s) to change their email address to something specific *
Jail Endless Online user(s) for 24 hours * Reason "You have been jailed for trying to get into other Endless Online user(s)`
accounts" * Report Endless Online user on the Light Guide Forum so that they can jail them permanently
Below is
an example of what you should post on the Light Guide Forum: PASSWORD SCAMMING- JoeEndlessOnline userBoy ZippityDooDah YerMomsaCreep

3.3.2 Cyber Sex It
is quite natural for teenagers to want to talk about sex and even experiment with virtual sex, where individuals talk through
a sexual experience. Endless Online recognizes this, but because of the nature of the Internet and the game in particular,
we have a zero tolerance policy towards this type of behavior. Why? Because Endless Online users don`t really know who they
are talking to or who is `listening`. They may think they are having cyber sex with another 15 year old, but in reality that
Endless Online user may be a vulnerable pre-teen or an adult. And any Endless Online users within earshot may be young, as
well. Endless Online caters for 13-20 year olds, but some Endless Online users are as young as 8 years old and it is inappropriate
for them to be exposed to conversations of a sexual nature.
There are five main areas that need policing with respect
to cyber sex- * Endless Online users harassing others for cyber sex * Endless Online users asking for gold in return
for cyber sex * Endless Online users indulging in cyber sex in front of others
Endless Online users asking for cyber
sex, offering it or indulging in it- * Send them an alert stating, "Cyber is not allowed on Endless Online" * If they
carry on, jail them for 1 week * Reason: "You have been jailed for indulging in cyber sex"
Endless Online users
with unacceptable names: * Jail them for two hours * Reason: "Your name is unacceptable - register a new Endless Online
user name`. We cannot change Endless Online user names. If their name is unacceptable, they will have to create a new one. *
Report the Endless Online user on the Light Guide Forum so that they can issue a permanent jail.
3.3.4 Harassment Harassment
can take several forms in Endless Online. If an Endless Online user has been foolish enough to give out their email address
or phone number, there is not much Endless Online can do. Advise the Endless Online user to change their email address and/or
set up a filter to delete emails from the individual concerned. Teens will be reluctant to do the former, since their email
address is often an extension of themselves and thus very important. Teens will certainly not want to change their phone number,
so all they can do is ignore any SMS text they receive. It is a good idea at this juncture to remind the Endless Online user
why it is so important that they do not divulge their personal details.
Note: Light Guides may also, on occasion, encounter
harassment in Endless Online. If an Endless Online user is verbally attacking you, there are certain rules to follow when
dealing with it.
First, never enter into an argument with an Endless Online user. As a Light Guide, you are seen as
the more reasonable person and you must be responsible enough to rise above some unfounded slurs. Just ignore the Endless
Online user to start with. They may end up getting bored and leaving you alone. If not, you can alert them or silence them.
We
do not jail Endless Online user for whatever may occur OUTSIDE the game, with the exception of scam sites, illegal coding
or scripting, or copyright infringement. You may NOT jail any Endless Online user for any comments made on a fan site, at
a school, in an email, in MSN Messenger, etc.
Light Guides will need to develop a thick skin, as they are often the
center of harassment. Don`t bother wrestling with a pig. The pig just gets angry and you get all muddy.
Cloning or
Impersonation of Endless Online user(s) Names If you find a blatant Staff or Light Guide clone name, please post on the
Light Guide Forum so they can perm jail the name. Be sure the name is a TRUE CLONE name. Someone may have the name TheLight
GuideIsKool, which is not a staff impersonation. Also, someone may have a name similar to a Light Guide name that is not intended
to be a clone name. Please post on the Light Guide Forum before you jail clone names. Many new members will not know Light
Guide names or Staff names. Please take this into consideration before you jail. Obviously if the Endless Online user is shown
to be impersonating a Light Guide or staff member with chat logs or missions, they should be jailed and the name posted on
the Light Guide Forum for a Perm jail.
3.3.6 Scam Sites These are websites that have been set up by Endless
Online user in order to harvest other Endless Online user usernames and passwords. They usually claim to have found a way
to give out free gold and often use Endless Online graphics to fool others into thinking that Endless Online authorizes them.
Some even go as far to say that they are official Endless Online sites.
. What to do Endless Online user advertising
scam site (in description or any message) * Jail Endless Online user for 24 hours * Reason: "You have been jailed for
advertising/running a scam game" * Report Endless Online user on the Light Guide Forum so that they can jail them permanently
3.4
Sensitivities At times there might be world events (such as war, terrorism, death of a prominent figure) that might provoke
reactions with Endless Online users. While we do want Endless Online users to be able to discuss world events and have freedom
of speech, there are always bound to be some Endless Online users who take it too far. For example, any names registered such
as `Osama` or an equivalent of that, were deemed inappropriate after 9/11.
Please watch out for situations such as
the above, which may arise. Also, when Endless Online users flood insensitive talk in messages - it is always wise to alert,
jail or silence them like you would do with any other flooder using unacceptable language. Just use your common sense.
PART
1.2 There may also be Endless Online user who call or speak with you claiming to be depressed or perhaps suicidal.
Whatever
the circumstance, you must remain impartial to this type of discussion. While there will be kids who are genuinely distressed,
some may be doing it for attention and it is not your responsibility to be involved in it and it is illegal to advise them.
Again it is ILLEGAL to advise them. While you are there to help Endless Online users within the game, you are not there to
offer advice or address personal problems, and for legal reasons you MUST NOT give out any personal advice. Update 5/2~ We
are in the process of making a game page with some help lines and resources for Endless Online users who may need to speak
in confidence with a professional about what is troubling them. The link to the page WILL BE http://www.Endless Online.com/hotline
but it is not up as of yet. The page will contain all contacts, and cannot either clarify that resources for other countries
are official/professional bodies nor can we provide resources for every country in the world.
3.6 Light Guide EMAILS The
Light Guide Forum sometimes uses a special Endless Online email tool to send emails to all Light Guides at once. This means
we only needs to use your Endless Online name and there is no chance that the other Light Guides will see your email address.
However, for this to work you must make sure that you have ticked the box that says `Yes, I do want to receive occasional
emails…". All e-mails sent to you will have `(Important) Light Guides` in the subject.
3.7 PERSONAL DETAILS We
will treat any personal information that you have given us as confidential and we will not share it with anyone. No other
Light Guide or Endless Online user will be told anything about you by Endless Online Ltd. Please read our Privacy Policy for
further details.
3.8 Light Guide Elder Robes Since you`re an Endless Online volunteer and help protect the game
you will have a special robe called `Elder Robes`. This is to prove to anyone who asks that you are indeed an official Endless
Online Light Guide.
3.09 LIGHT GUIDE CONDUCT You are expected to behave in a professional manner at all times,
when performing Light Guide duties. Please do not engage in public arguments, swearing, ignoring Endless Online users, rude
behavior, or other unacceptable behavior when you are in Light Guide mode. When taking reports, it is likely that one or more
Light Guides or staff may have picked up the same report. See if anyone requires your help and if so, stay to help. If not,
please leave and take another report. Do not take it personally if multiple Light Guides appear on a report. No one is spying
on you. We are a team and we support each other. Take it in stride and move on or stay and help. Often the call for help pick
up button has not yet shown who has picked up the call.
If you receive a report and a Light Guide is already dealing
with the report, please do not intrude. Do not argue with any Staff members. You may certainly disagree but do so respectfully.
Please
don`t contact Staff members other than Vult-R with questions or problems. We expect all Light Guides to respect the chain
of command. Respect your fellow Light Guides. We don`t expect everyone to like each other or be best mates. We do expect everyone
to treat each team member and Staff member (and all Endless Online users) with respect at all times.
3.10 SPECIAL BENEFITS As
well as your special Light Guide status, there are extra benefits to being a Light Guide. These benefits may range from priority
access and information on Endless Online developments, to Light Guide parties. Keep an eye out for new benefits in The Light
Guide Forum. Bonus ~ All Light Guides get 15,000g for each hour on the game.
Light Guide Teams With the growth of
The Light Guide Program, we have created teams to ensure that all Light Guides receive proper attention and communication.
We also aim to provide each Light Guide the opportunity to learn special skills applicable outside the game. The following
teams are available to you:
* Recruitment Team (recruiting and interviewing Light Guide applicants) * Training Team
(proper training of all Light Guides) * Tech Team (educating Endless Online user about technical issues including virus
protection, key logger programs, how to fight, guild problems, etc.) * Scam Site Team (educating Endless Online user about
scam sites, checks all reported scam sites, maintains a list of scam sites, closing down scam sites) * New Member Team
(welcoming new Endless Online users) * Generalized Team (aspects of Endless Online user duties, including Light Guide Alerts
